Look closely, this is what absolutely delicious pizza looks like.  Original Ray’s at Broadway and 53rd, kiddos… this is their signature pizza, which I can totally agree with, pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage.  So, I’m a dork and knew exactly where to go from Travel Channel and Food Network specials on NY style pizza which I watched, but hey… I’m not denying the dork factor here.
This was the only NY pizza I ended up getting, I was unable to venture down South to get some Lombardi’s which was on my dream list for the trip.  It’s arguably the first pizza in the US (which makes it the first pizza as we know it) and still uses coal-fired ovens because it’s grandfathered.  Let’s hope the wedding occurs in NY and I get a chance to grab some on that trip.
